Orphan Ten Pottery by Shannon Kelly

Handmade & Seasonal Ceramics

I make pottery in small batches and each one is handmade and unique – with its own subtleties in shape, glaze break, or slight unevenness along the rim. Sometimes, I hand-carve, alter, and manipulate the clay to form ununiform and unique silhouettes. I try my best to capture those imperfectly perfect details in the item description and photos.

I'm constantly developing new designs and glazes so I do not have a set inventory. I have seasonal online releases and will send advance notice via email to my mailing list when new collections are about to launch.

Recommended Care

All of my ceramics are made with food safe materials. I do recommend hand washing as the best way to prolong the life of your investment.

Porcelain and stoneware with matte glazes may stain with prolonged contact with tomatoes, beets, turmeric, chili pepper pastes (harissa, samba, chili crisp, etc) or other typically staining foods. When in doubt, leave it out.

Gold luster (11% 22k gold) can come into contact with food and drink. Please avoid hard scrubbing when washing pieces, because of the possibility of scraping off the thin layer of metal or luster. Treat your gold luster pieces as you would fine china.

Some objects intended for art or display only. If so, I have included those specifications in the product description. The glazes on those pieces are non-toxic but bacteria from food could be retained in the surface texture or crevices after washing. Please use them for photoshoots, decor, or displaying dry food items.

All items are not intended for the oven unless noted.

Non-Ceramic Materials

I use paracord (also known as parachute cord or 550 cord) on my hanging planters and ceramic baskets as an alternative to rope or twine because of its durability in indoor and outdoor settings. Paracord is a lightweight, nylon kernmantle (inner core protected by a woven outer sheath) rope originally used in suspension lines of parachutes. It's 100% made in the USA and mold, mildew, and rot resistant.

Shipping

I make every effort to process orders quickly but I am generally unplugged when I'm throwing on the wheel. My current Shipping Policy for order processing is 3-5 days. I am a one woman show but when my hands are not covered in clay or glaze, I will try to accommodate special requests on a case by case basis.

If you receive an item that is damaged please contact me immediately. All damages must be reported within 48 hours upon receiving your order so that we can sort out a refund with the carrier. Please visit the Shipping & Returns page for full details.

Lastly, I'm committed to sustainable and eco-friendly packaging. I only purchase paper-based recycled and recyclable products. Occasionally with larger pieces, I will reuse boxes or fill material to reduce my global carbon footprint.
