With the cold weather, I’ve been enjoying a slow start in the studio and having fun merchandising little vignettes on Instagram. I call this one “Midcentury Modern Lemon Bling”.
Within the comments section of that photo was a valuable insight worth elaborating on: the yellow studs on my forms are "premium gold luster" and 11% 22k gold.
Luster overglazes come in various color and price options for use during an additional third firing. I love using precious metals on my pieces to highlight design details or unique qualities. The cost of the product I use is worth every penny for real gold when you see how it reflects light.
Items with gold luster is food safe but will require extra care to maintain its luminescence. Please avoid hard scrubbing when washing pieces, because of the possibility of scraping off the thin layer of metal or luster. Treat your gold luster pieces like cherished heirlooms or fine china.
