The star name Funi came from Iceland as part of the 2019 IAU100 NameExoWorlds campaign. Funi is an old Icelandic word for “fire” or “blaze.” HD 109246 b, a planet orbiting the star, was named Fold, which means “earth” or “soil” in old Icelandic.
